The founder of this international system of martial arts known as Purple Dragon Don Jitsu Ryu. It was created by Soke Grandmaster Professor Don Jacob. He has studied martial arts for over five decades and presently holds a 9th Degree Black Belt.
Grandmaster Professor Don Jacob is one of the most sought-after martial arts professionals in the world today and having conducted extensive research on the topic (martial arts), he is considered to be one of its most knowledgeable historians.
Grandmaster Jacob has taught and demonstrated with great success in countries such as England, Canada, USA, Hawaii, Japan, Australia, Africa, Nepal, India, China, and throughout the Caribbean, to name a few. He is considered by those who have seen and trained with him to be the most dynamic and complete martial artist that they have had the honor of witnessing and experiencing.

Professor Johnny Madrid, 8th Dan Black Belt, has been training with Purple Dragon for over 50 years. He is a highly respected martial arts instructor with an illustrious career within the Purple Dragon organization, making him a veteran and a key leader in the field of martial arts education and development. His current rank signifies exceptional mastery in his chosen discipline. His longevity and dedication position him as one of the most senior figures within the international Purple Dragon organization, a network with branches and programs worldwide
Professor Madrid’s curriculum is rooted in the Don Jitsu Ryu system.
At his Queens, New York branch (South Ozone Park), the programs are designed to serve children as young as four years old, teenagers, and adults of all genders and backgrounds. The teaching style at his dojo is characterized as traditional and strict, with a heavy emphasis on discipline, respect, and moral values deemed to be as important as the acquisition of physical skills.
